The Bookie Tag (Cookie + Book = Bookie)

Welcome to my bookie tag, which was given to me by my friend Belle Anne at Worlds of Ink and Paper. Like the blogging machine that she is, she did three tags at once and tagged me for all three. But I’ve already done the Versatile Blogger Award once and bored you with all my facts, so we’re just going to talk about cookies and quotes today, friends.

That’s about everything I have to say in introduction…

Chocolate Chip (a book that never gets old)

Little Women is the epitome of a timeless story that I will never tire of. Those characters are my family and I love growing up with them and laughing with them and crying with them.

So. Many. Feels.

Dutch Snowballs (a book that gave you an unexpected surprise)

An unexpected surprise? As opposed to an expected surprise?

Sorry.

I’m not surprised often because my first impressions are solid, but I did famously misjudge Jill Williamson’s Safe Lands trilogy. I started the first book and it reminded me of sweat and sewage and I hated it.

Now I love that series.

Surprise!

Molasses (a book with a character that gets in a sticky situation)

I’m going to say that my girl Kit from Witch of Blackbird Pond gets in a rather sticky situation when she becomes friends with a witch and hot young sailor.

Sticky.

Oreo (a book dealing with the light and the darkness)

The obvious answer is Lord of the Rings. That’s the most epic struggle between darkness and light that I can think of.

Sugar (a book with a sugary sweet villain)

As much as I hate copout answers… I’ve been sitting here for fifteen minutes trying to think of a sugary villain and I just can’t do it.

I guess I’ve never read a book with one.

Monster (a book that confused your emotions)

Go Set A Watchman confused my brain at first because I was actually convinced that I had misunderstood the story somehow. And then it confused my emotions because I hadn’t misunderstood and my heart was shattered.

Snickerdoodle (a book that made you laugh)

When I was grievously sick for five days this week, I devoured all the new books that my library had to offer and among them was Engaged In Trouble by Jenny B. Jones.

Engaged In Trouble was hilarious and had me feebly attempting to giggle past my wheezes, but this is not the only book by Jones to make me laugh – her talent for writing sidesplittingly funny books is just uncanny.

Peanut Butter (a book with a nutty character)

I’m not sure how we’re defining nutty these days?

Okay, I’ll give this to Petruchio. In my annual plunge into Shakespeare, I read Hamlet, The Tempest, and The Taming of the Shrew, the last of which was as disturbing as I anticipated. Petruchio is probably insane.

And because it’s driving me crazy…

Allow me to fill you in on my cookie thoughts. Chocolate chip are good, but I have no idea what a Dutch Snowball is, have never had a molasses cookie, don’t like Oreos or sugar cookies that much, am not sure what a monster cookie is though it admittedly sounds rather delicious, hate snickerdoodles with a fiery passion and know for a fact that they don’t make you laugh any more than any other kind of cookie unless you add hallucinogenic drugs to them, and I hate peanut butter cookies too.

They should have included a category for Dutch cocoa cookies because those are the most delicious.

There you go. My cookie fun facts of the day.

Now let’s look at some quotes. Technically the rules dictate that I post one quote every for three consecutive days and tag three people or something like that but let’s be honest, that is way too many rules and way too many words and way too pushy. I don’t post every day and I certainly don’t post a whole post just to share a quote.

So, in the same vein as Belle Anne, I’m going to glob my quotes together and post all three right now.
